# About Adobe InDesign Package Rendering

InDesign Packages (ZIP files) are output from Adobe InDesign and contain all project assets and information, including high-resolution graphics and custom fonts. When users upload an InDesign Package, Vault automatically generates viewable renditions from the InDesign files, graphics, and custom fonts within the package. The result is a high-quality PDF. Vault does not support full-text search within this PDF.

    <div class="alert-text">
      <p><strong>Note</strong>: You’ll receive a warning email from Vault if InDesign detects missing fonts or outdated graphic links.</p>
    </div>
  </div>

To help ensure that InDesign rendering is successful across InDesign versions, your InDesign Package should include an InDesign Markup Language (IDML) file.

Vault can also <a href="/en/gr/3815/">auto-generate viewable renditions</a> from Adobe Photoshop (PSD), Illustrator (AI), InDesign (INDD) and Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) files.

## Adobe InDesign Package Method

It is important that you include all required data for InDesign file handling in your InDesign packages. The package method ensures that graphics, linked materials, and fonts are available when you upload to Vault. If you don't use this method, you may see font substitution or missing images in Vault.

The following instructions and images reflect Adobe InDesign CC 2017. If you use a different version, your steps may vary.

### Package the InDesign Content

Use the InDesign **Package** option.

If needed, resolve any issues that appear in the **Summary**. To do this, you must cancel, resolve issues, and then use the **Package** option again.

Enable the following settings in the **Create Package Folder** window:

* Copy Fonts
* Copy Linked Graphics
* Update Graphic Links In Package
* Include IDML
* Include PDF (Print)

### Create ZIP File

On your computer, navigate to the directory where you saved the InDesign package. Compress or archive the package folder to create a ZIP file.

### Upload to Vault

Upload the ZIP to Vault as a source file.

## Auto-Linked InDesign Packages (PromoMats & MedComms)

In PromoMats and MedComms Vaults, Veeva Support can enable a feature that automatically creates documents for each component in your InDesign package and links them to your source document through the _Auto-Linked_ relationship type. For more details, see <a href="/en/gr/48877/">Working with Auto-Linked Adobe InDesign Documents</a>.
