Vault Medical provides the ability to create and manage reusable scientific statements through the Scientific Statements (annotation_keywords__sys) object.
The Scientific Statement object includes the following standard objects to manage data:
- The Statement Variation (
match_text_variation__sys) object is a child of the Scientific Statement object and contains a variation of the Scientific Statement’s statement. Each Scientific Statement record can have up to five (5) associated Statement Variation records. - The Scientific Statement Target (
annotation_keyword_targets__sys) allows a statement to be associated with multiple Link Targets. - The Link Target (
link_target__sys) contains information for link destinations, including target type and document information. Vault automatically creates one Link Target for each document version with a type, subtype, or classification that is enabled as a suggested link target.
Important: Scientific Statement Target and Link Target are system-managed objects that are intended to operate behind the scenes. Users should not have direct access to them, and Admins are strongly advised not to add them to the Scientific Statement detail page layout as related object fields or to edit these two objects in any way, including by adding, removing, or renaming fields.
The Scientific Statement object (annotation_keywords__sys) contains the following standard fields:
- Name: Vault generates this field automatically.
- Statement: The exact text of the statement. The Statement must be between five (5) and 1500 characters. This text must match the text of the reference document exactly. For example, a Scientific Statement with the statement “Cholecap works faster” will match to a document with the text “Cholecap works faster than competitors” but not to one with the text “Cholecap works quicker.”
- Category: The type of statement, such as Efficacy or Clinical Study Information. Admins can configure values for this picklist according to their team’s needs.
- Primary Product Family: This is an object reference field where Admins can select the Primary Product Family associated with the statement. You may add additional products in the Products section on a Scientific Statement Info Page.
- Primary Country: This is an object reference field where Admins can select the Primary Country where the statement is applicable. You may add additional countries in the Countries section of a Scientific Statement Info Page.
- Indication / Disease: This is an object reference field where Admins can select the Indication associated with the statement. Admins can configure values for this picklist according to their team’s needs.
Admins can add additional fields to the Scientific Statement object and configure object relationships according to their team’s needs.
About Matching Fields
Vault uses matching fields to match statement records to documents.
- Vault matches Scientific Statements using the Primary Country (
country__v) and Primary Product Family (product__v) fields. When manually linking to records, these filters are optional. - Primary Country and Primary Product Family are required on both documents and Scientific Statements for Vault to match them via Auto-Linking.
- Indication / Disease is also used for Auto-Linking and available as a filter when manually linking Scientific Statements. When specified on a document, only Scientific Statements with at least one matching indication or with a blank value are returned as candidates for linking.
- Documents without a specified indication remain unrestricted, allowing all Scientific Statements to be evaluated regardless of their indication value.
- Vault supports Scientific Statements related to multiple countries, products and indications via the corresponding object relationship records. For example, if a document has a Primary Country value of “United States”, a Primary Product Family value of “Natevba”, and an Indication / Disease value of “Skin Cancer”, Vault attempts to match it to Scientific Statements that an Admin previously associated with those country, product, and indication values via object relationships.
- Objects can have multi-value picklist fields, but they cannot have multi-value object reference fields.
- Document types can have multi-value picklist and multi-value object reference fields.
- Vault only matches documents to Scientific Statements in either the Approved state or a state assigned to the Reviewed State state type, which is Reviewed by default.
Matching Scientific Statement Records by Country
Documents assigned to a specific country, such as France, automatically match Scientific Statements assigned to broader parent regions along with that same country. For example, a document set to France automatically pulls in Scientific Statements tagged as France, EU, Global, or any region that lists France in its Included Countries (country_cda__v) field during Auto-Linking.
To have a Country record represent a region and add multiple countries to it, select the Allow user to select multiple values checkbox in the Included Countries field first.
About Scientific Statements
Users can automate the generation of reference links on statements found in documents. Admins can configure statements and associated references, allowing users to create four types of link annotations: Suggested Links, Approved Links, Auto-Accepted Links, and Manual Links.
